Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026 (version 2026-06-22)

This page explains the cookies and similar browser storage World Explorer uses, grouped by the categories in our consent banner. Strictly-necessary storage is always active; everything else loads only with your consent.

Strictly necessary (always on)

  • Authentication — Firebase Auth keeps you signed in.
  • Security / anti-abuse — App Check / reCAPTCHA helps block automated abuse.
  • Consent recordwe_consent_v1 in local storage remembers your choices.
  • Gameplay state — local storage holds in-progress games, daily-challenge tracking, and interface preferences (theme, sound, units). This stays on your device.

Analytics (consent required)

  • Firebase Analytics — aggregate usage insights. Loads only if you allow analytics, and not at all if you don’t. Honors your withdrawal immediately.

Functional (consent required)

  • Optional convenience enhancements. None are enabled today; this category is reserved.

Advertising (consent required; off by default)

  • We currently run no advertising. If we ever do, ad cookies will load only with your explicit consent, and a Global Privacy Control signal will keep them off.

A note on Google Maps

The “Where Am I?” game loads Google Street View when you start that mode. It’s a functional part of that feature (not analytics or advertising) and is provided by Google under its own privacy policy.

Processors

Cookies/storage above are operated by us or by Google Firebase, Stripe (only on the billing pages), and Google Maps. See the Privacy Policy for details and your rights.
